St. George

Stewardship and Online Giving

Saint George Parish is a non-profit organization, which exisits soley on the generosity of it's parishioners. As a result, it is imperative for us to immediately access these funds in order to sustain the daily needs of the parish. For this reason, we do not have an on line giving program at this time. However, there are several alternatives.

If you are unable to make it to Mass and you would like to make a contribution via the internet, we encourage you to contact your bank to see if the bill pay option is available through that institution. If you designate St. George Parish as a recipient of a payment, a check can be sent directly to the Rectory Office at 22 E. Cooke Avenue, Glenolden, PA  19036.

If you would like to mail a check without the assistance of the internet or your bank's bill payment services, simply write a check and send to directly to the Rectory Office. We also accept money orders.

Your contritbution, together with the kindness of our generous parishioners, helps us to maintain our beautiful church, grounds and parish buildings, provide warmth for our parishioners and friends in the winter and air-condtioning in the summer, and allows us to provide meaningful and well celebrated liturgies, along with a Parish Religious Education Program for all ages and a Tuition Assistance Program (Parish Subsidy) for students who choose a Catholic school education, and, most importantly, allows our celebrants to bring the Eucharist and other sacraments to our parishioners as needed throughout the year.

Treasure Sunday, also referred to as "Stewardship Weekend," and formerally known as the "Annual Block Collection," is typically held each year on the second Sunday of October. Why do we call it Treasure Sunday? Well, there are many gifts we can offer to God in return for all that He has given to us. These "treasures" are not just monetary donations. We can also give to the Church our time and talent by way of volunteering to visit hospitals and the homebound to bring them the Eucharist, a smiling face and a Parish Bulletin, by volunteering at Parish functions and Youth Group activities, and by volunteering for lay ministry such as being a Reader, a Leader of Song, or Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, or assisting on Parish Councils.

Treasure Sunday contributions stay in the parish and are used to help us keep our parish alive and vibrant and provide for the spiritual needs of all our parishioners.

If you would like more infromation about Stewardship and its important to our faith community, please visit http://www.usccb.org/.

Stewardship is a way of life, a life of accountability and responsibility acknowledging God as Creator and Giver of all. Stewardship involves responsible management of our God-given resources of time, talent, and treasure. Stewards, as disciples of Jesus Christ, see themselves as caretakers of all God's gifts. Gratitude for these gifts is expressed in prayer, worship, offering and action by eagerly sharing our gifts of love for God and one another.

Stewardship is based on the spiritual practices of the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus. Stewardship is not just a program, or a method of fundraising, it is a way of thanking God for all His blessings by returning a portion of the time, talent, and treasure we have each received.

Stewardship is a path to holiness. It make us more like Christ who came not to be served, but to serve. It is a grateful awareness that all we have and all we are comes freely from God. When we offer our lives back to God in love, He blessed that generosity a hundredfold.
